Here is the thing about Extreme Fear. It feels like a verdict. It is not. It is a sentiment reading at 18, which is about as low as this index gets, and what Howard Marks would call the pendulum near one extreme. That is not comfortable. That is, historically, where the patient money moves.

Overnight the macro picture is doing something interesting. Gold dropped 2.2%. The 10-year Treasury yield fell to 4.49%. The dollar softened to 99.81. Equities climbed. What that combination says, through a Dalio liquidity lens, is that the market is gently repricing rate expectations downward, not panicking into safety. A softer dollar and falling yields are the tide that lifts risk assets, Bitcoin included. Not a green light, but not a headwind either.

The headline number worth knowing: spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $85.8 million on Friday, snapping five consecutive days of outflows. One day does not make a trend. But flows are what Mehrling would call the funding signal, who is actually putting money in versus who is talking. The five-day bleed had been a confidence tax on the whole thesis. One reversal day matters less than whether it continues. Watch Monday's ETF flow data like a hawk.

On the Radar

  • Venice and Morpheus tokens: The US government ordered Anthropic to pull its Fable and Mythos AI models, and two smaller permissionless AI tokens immediately caught a bid. If censorship risk on closed AI keeps rising, the "no one can ban it" pitch for decentralized AI infrastructure gets louder.
  • Quantum and cold wallets: Coinbase's new report flags millions of bitcoin exposed via address reuse, exchange cold wallets included. Not an imminent threat, but a structural risk worth knowing exists before the crowd discovers it.
  • AI agents and phishing: Google is suing a Chinese crime group for allegedly weaponizing Gemini to run mass phishing scams. A separate story shows an AI agent wrongly flagged a dev's code as malicious. Both headlines land the same way: AI agent reliability is a live problem for any crypto team building on top of it.
  • BTC at $64,619: Price is sitting above the $60,000 floor the desk watches as the invalidation level. Dominance at 56.6% says capital is still consolidating into Bitcoin, not spreading down the risk curve.

The Desk View

When ETF inflows hold positive this week and the dollar stays soft, then Bitcoin has the conditions to push higher from this range, because the funding tide and sentiment extreme are both pointing the same direction. Wrong if fresh ETF outflows return or yields spike back up and drag risk appetite with them. Read the data, not the hype.

Trend, the majors

BTC, ETH and SOL are below their 50 and 200 day averages (downtrend).
